Independence Day!

The 4th of July here in our little town is a blast. Music, bounce houses, old friends, and a fantastic display of fireworks starts our celebration with a bang the night before! It is always fun to catch up with old friends and we seen so many last night! The kids had a blast at the bounce houses and the music was pretty good too. The kids got their faces painted and were treated with suckers. {It is not very often we have candy.}

Then today, we have our towns parade and community picnic. The last few years our church has had a float and so, we have been in the parade more than watching it. However, since our church also puts on the community picnic, we are relatively first in line so we can watch the rest of the parade once we get through.

We came home and got busy in the garden and mowing grass. The kids played for a while in the little pool. Later on we had a bonfire, s’mores, and sparklers. A wonderful couple days we have had!

Despite a wonderful weekend spent with family and festivities it is important to remember what we are celebrating. We remember that moment in our history that 50 plus men signed the Declaration of Independence establishing our sovereignty as a nation. We need also to remember that we were gaining liberty. Liberty that comes from God, not the whims of man.
