Huckleberry season is in full swing! We have some patches that are loaded and many others that are not producing. But if there is ever a year they all go, watch out! I am hoping to get enough to make jam. We shall see.

The kids aren’t too keen on helping with picking so I have them eat the berries they find while I pick so they stay close. That seems to work pretty well, although I loose quite a few to some little tummies. Well worth it though for some quality time together.

We have 10 acres that are full of of huckleberries, raspberries, and juneberries. The juneberries looked like there would be plenty, but either we missed their peak or they went from green to done in an instant. That was disappointing. They are usually ready to be picked around the beginning of July.

God willing there is always next year!
